Proof That Hens Deserve Couture

Rudi’s Bridgerton themed hens called for something elevated. Not a cute white dress moment, but a real couture statement. She wore a custom Antoinette Fusillo gown and it delivered exactly what modern bridal style should. Precision, craftsmanship, and a silhouette that looks effortless while being anything but.

This is also proof that hens deserve couture.

Designed by Antoinette Fusillo, a Melbourne bridal designer, the gown leans into lingerie-inspired bridal couture without feeling overly exposed or trend-driven. Instead, it’s clean, intentional, and beautifully executed. The kind of dress that photographs like an editorial and wears like a second skin.

The foundation of the look is the corseted bodice. It’s sharply fitted with visible boning that defines the torso and creates that sculpted shape couture brides chase in fittings. Rather than hiding the structure, the gown highlights it, giving the dress a modern edge while keeping the overall finish soft and bridal. The neckline sits in a sweetheart shape with a slight plunge, framing the décolletage in a way that feels balanced and flattering.

From there, the gown moves into a fitted lace skirt with a clean column line through the hips and thighs. The lace placement is what makes it feel truly custom. The floral motifs aren’t random, they’re mapped. The pattern creates movement down the body, then continues into a train that adds length and impact. It’s dramatic enough to feel special, yet still wearable, which is exactly what you want for a hens where you’re moving, laughing, hugging everyone, and actually enjoying the day.

And the lace itself is the standout. A lace that lives rent-free in our minds. The semi-sheer effect through the skirt gives it a lighter finish, a sensual elegance. On-theme for a bridal moment that’s meant to feel elevated but fun.

What made this even more meaningful is that we were lucky enough to spend time with Rudi not only creating a stunning second dress for her wedding, but also bringing this hens gown to life. Having something custom made is never just about the final look. It’s about the process. Each fitting becomes part of the story. You see the gown evolve, you watch the shape get refined, and you feel the difference between trying on dresses and being part of a design being built around you.

That experience is what turns a gown into an heirloom. It becomes something you’ll keep for years, not just because it’s beautiful, but because it holds memories. The anticipation before the wedding, the excitement of the lead-up events, and the feeling of being celebrated in something made specifically for you.

Behind the scenes, gowns like this are hours of skilled work. The corsetry alone requires precision. Shaping, reinforcing, and perfecting the fit so it supports the body while staying comfortable. Then there’s the lacework. Careful placement, clean finishing, and the kind of hand-detailing that takes time to get right. It’s the work of artisans who understand that bridal couture isn’t just fabric. It’s engineering, design, and patience.

Golden Films Wedding

Rudi’s hens was filled with love, laughter, and that once-in-a-lifetime energy that comes before you officially become a bride. Seeing the images from the day made it even clearer. A hens gown we’re still obsessing over, and a reminder that bridal fashion deserves intention at every stage.
